About

Since 2006, SOPAC (South Orange Performing Arts Center) has been serving as a premier performing arts center in the region. SOPAC presents diverse performing arts programs that include arts education partnerships and programs for people with disabilities, delivers artistic, educational, and innovative experiences within an intimate, inviting environment, and promotes regional involvement in the arts, serving as a catalyst for economic development and continued revitalization of South Orange’s Central Business District.

SOPAC hosts a variety of live performances, community events and education programs for all ages.  SOPAC partners with the Juilliard School of Music to present the Juilliard @ SOPAC series featuring upcoming musicians from the acclaimed conservatory. SOPAC is home for Seton Hall University Arts Council’s performances, including the Classical Concert Series, Jazz in the Hall performances and Seton Hall Theatre productions. The organization also presents performances by its theater company in residence, Midtown Direct Rep, and its dance company in residence, Lydia Johnson Dance.

The comment most people make upon the center for the first time is "I can't believe how spacious it is in here!" Thanks to ingenious architectural planning by Carmi Bee of RTK & B Architects, innovative engineering, and clever use of materials, our stacked vertical design packs a lot of entertainment into a relatively-compact footprint, while maintaining an airy feel.
