The Howard Gilman Opera House, located in the Peter Jay Sharp Building at 30 Lafayette
Avenue, has hosted some of the world’s most prestigious artists, from Enrico Caruso,
to Philip Glass and Paul Simon. Designed by famous theater architects Herts and
Tallant—also responsible for the Lyceum Theatre and the New Amsterdam
Theatre—the Opera House is a stunning marriage of eclectic Beaux Arts style with
modern sound and lighting, seating 2,090 patrons in its orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony
levels.
