Great Performances at Mason is a program of George Mason University's College of Visual and
Performing Arts. The College of Visual and Performing Arts creates an academic environment
in which the arts are explored as individual disciplines and interdisciplinary forms that
enhance and strengthen each other. The College is committed to the belief that an education
in the arts is deepened by regular contact with the work of distinguished visiting artists,
as well as meeting and working with the artists themselves in activities including
residencies, lecture/demonstrations, and master classes. The College houses four academic
departments: Art and Visual Technology, Dance, Music and Theater, as well as the Master of
Arts Management program and the Center for the Arts, an umbrella for the productions,
presentations, and exhibitions of the College's departments and the Great Performances at
Mason series.
