> Depuis plus de trente ans, Alain Lortie se passionne pour son métier. D’abord associé aux artistes Canadiens multidisciplinaires Michel Lemieux, Marie Chouinard et Édouard Lock, il collabore avec des artistes de la chanson du Québec et d’Europe : Diane Dufresne, Robert Charlebois, Daniel Bélanger, Peter Gabriel, Francis Cabrel, Eros Ramazzotti… Plusieurs fois nommé « concepteur d’éclairages de l’année » à l’ADISQ, il reçoit aussi le Masque des éclairages pour Les âmes mortes (1996), et un prix Dora Mavor Moore à Toronto pour l’opéra Œdipus Rex (1997). On compte parmi ses grandes créations Starmania (1993), Notre-Dame de Paris (1998), Arturo Brachetti (1999), Cavalia (2003) et Odysseo (2011). En 2016, Alain fait partie de l’équipe de création du New-York Spectacular avec Les Rockettes au Radio City Musical Hall, une production de MSG Production à NYC. Il signe les concepts de Mille Batailles (2016) et So Blue (2011) de la chorégraphe/danseuse Louise Lecavalier. En 2005 Alain Lortie développe ses contacts avec la scène culturelle en Asie. En Chine avec Shanghai Circus World “Era” 2005, aussi plusieurs Musicals “Butterflies” 2007, “Love You Teresa” 2010+2014, “Mama Love Me Again” 2013 and “Ah Kuliang!”. À Taipei “Love Carmen” 2006 et le concert de Tanya Chua “Serendipity Tour” 2013. Il s'associe avec Franco Dragone pour le spectacle Han Show (2014) à Wuhan en Chine et le chanteur Russe Philipp Kirkorov ‘’R’’ 2016. De 2001 à 2005, il est directeur artistique de la Fête de la lumière au Festival Montréal en Lumière. Il collabore également aux spectacles du Cirque du Soleil, Soleil de minuit (2004), Delirium (2006) et Zarkana (2011) et Toruk, The First Flight (2015) inspiré du film de James Cameron Avatar.

Alain Lortie diversified his experience working with Canadian creators for world-wide touring; dance, music and theatre productions, including choreographers Marie Chouinard, Edouard Lock, Louise Lecavalier and directors Michel Lemieux, Robert Lepage with whom he worked in collaboration with for the Peter Gabriel’s “US tour”1993. In 1993, he created the lighting for the Rock Musical “Starmania” directed by Lewis Furey, he worked with director Gilles Maheu of Carbone 14 on “Dead Souls for which he won the 1996 Masques award for best lighting, in 1998, he work on the creation of the Musical “Notre-Dame de Paris” of Luc Plamondon and Richard Cocciante this Musical still perform around the world. In 1997, in Toronto, with the Canadian Opera Company, he lit “Oedipus Rex” directed by François Girard, for which Mr. Lortie received the 1998 Dora Mavor Moore Award. From 2000 to 2003, he was the Artistic Director of the “Festival Montréal en Lumière”. He was invited in Lyon, France to present one of his installations in public place as a part of the “Fête de la Lumière” 2002. In 2003 Mr. Lortie designed the lighting for the box office success “Cavalia”, this equestrian spectacle is still touring. He also created touring show “Odysseo” 2011. In 2005 Mr. Lortie develop contact with the cultural scene in Asia, he is the lighting director for the Shanghai Circus World “Era” 2005, in Taipei the Musical “Love Carmen” 2006 and the concert for Tanya Chua “Serendipity Tour” 2013. In China he work with many Musicals “Butterflies” 2007, “Love You Teresa” 2010+2014, “Mama Love Me Again” 2013 and “Ah Kuliang!” 2016. With Franco Dragone in Wuhan Mr. Lortie design and programmed the water show “The Han Show” 2014. Since 2004 he is part of the creation team of Le Cirque du Soleil, he worked for “Soleil de Minuit” 2005 and the hit arena tour “Delirium” 2006, also at the prestigious Radio City Music Hall in New-York City for “Zarkana” 2011 and “Toruk, and the first flight!” (2015) show is inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar. In 2016 he was Lighting Designer for the “New-York Spectacular’’ with the Rockettes at the Radio City Musical Hall, produced by MSG Production.
